The BioSonic US200 Ultrasonic Scaler is a magnetostrictive electrical-powered ultrasonic scaler intended for use during all general supra and subgingival scaling, and routine prophylaxis procedures, as well as periodontal therapy. The BioSonic US200 Utrasonic Scaler consists of a hand piece containing a mechanical resonator that is coupled to a scaler tip. The resonator is driven by a power electronic unit.

- BioSonic US200 Ultrasonic Inserts:
The BioSonic US200 Scaler Inserts are comprised of metal strips that resonate and cause an elliptical motion in the scaler tip. The outer part of the scaler tip vibrates in the driving frequency and amplitude chosen by the dentist. The scaler is capable of accepting both 25 and 30kHz inserts from the BioSonic brand as well as competitors and automatically detects which insert is in-use so that no switch is needed on the unit. Activation of the scaler and the setting of the output mode in normal vs. turbo are controlled by the operator via the foot pedal.
The cooling water is delivered either from a pressurized bottle, an internal diaphragm pump, or directly from the water supply network. This water flow is controlled separately from the power. The outer handpiece sheath can be removed from the hand piece for the purpose of cleaning and sterilization.
